Stage 2: Leaping Dolphin Exploration

  • Jump in from poolside safely.

  • Blow bubbles rhythmically with nose and mouth submerged.

  • Float on the back and return to standing without support.

  • Float on the front and return to standing without support.

  • Push and glide on the back with arms by the side or above the head.

  • Push and glide on the front with arms extended.

  • Travel 5 meters on the back without floatation equipment.

  • Travel 5 meters on the front without floatation equipment.

  • Tuck to rotate from front float to back float, then return to standing.

  • Tuck to rotate from back float to front float, then return to standing.

  • Log roll from back to front.

  • Log roll from front to back.

  • Exit the water without support.

Stage 3: Submerging Seal Skills

  • Jump in from poolside and submerge.

  • Sink, push away from the wall, and maintain a streamlined position.

  • Push and glide on the front with arms extended and log roll onto the back.

  • Push and glide on the back with arms extended and log roll onto the front.

  • Travel 5 meters on the front, perform a tuck to rotate onto the back, and return on the back.

  • Fully submerge to pick up an object.

  • Identify three of the four key water safety messages.

  • Push and glide and travel 10 meters on the back.

  • Push and glide and travel 10 meters on the front.

  • Perform a tuck float and hold for three seconds.

  • Exit the water without using steps.

Stage 4: Floating Otter Fluency

  • Perform a sequence of changing shapes while floating.

  • Push and glide from the wall towards the pool floor.

  • Kick 10 meters backstroke (optional equipment).

  • Kick 10 meters front crawl (optional equipment).

  • Kick 10 meters butterfly on the front or back.

  • Kick 10 meters breaststroke on the front (optional equipment).

  • Head-first sculling action for 5 meters on the back.

  • Travel on the back and log roll onto the front.

  • Travel on the front and log roll onto the back.

  • Push and glide and swim 10 meters with an optional stroke.

Stage 5: Jumping Frog Jollity

  • Perform a flat stationary scull on the back.

  • Feet-first sculling action for 5 meters on the back.

  • Sculling sequence with a partner for 30-45 seconds, including rotation.

  • Tread water for 30 seconds.

  • Perform three different shaped jumps into deep water.

  • Push and glide and swim 10 meters backstroke.

  • Push and glide and swim 10 meters front crawl.

  • Push and glide and swim 10 meters breaststroke.

  • Push and glide and swim 10 meters butterfly.

  • Perform a handstand and hold for a minimum of three seconds.

  • Perform a forward somersault.

  • Demonstrate an action for getting help.

  • Provide two examples of how to prepare for exercise and understand its importance.

  • Sink, push off on the side from the wall, glide, kick, and rotate into backstroke.

  • Swim 10 meters wearing clothes.

  • Push and glide and swim front crawl with at least six rhythmical breaths.

  • Push and glide and swim breaststroke with at least six rhythmical breaths.

  • Push and glide and swim butterfly with at least three rhythmical breaths.

  • Push and glide and swim backstroke with at least six regular breaths.

  • Push and glide and swim 25 meters with an optional stroke.

  • Perform a ‘shout and signal’ rescue.

  • Perform a surface dive.

  • Perform a movement sequence of one minute duration in a group of three or more, incorporating various skills.

  • Perform a sitting dive or dive.

  • Push and glide and swim 50 meters continuously using one stroke.

  • Push and glide and swim 100 meters, using a minimum of three different strokes.

  • Tread water using eggbeater action for 30 seconds.

  • Complete an obstacle course
