Learn to Tread in Deep Water
Treading Water – Deep Water Swimming

    About

From November 2017 we will start lessons in a deeper pool at Barbican. Learning to tread water in the deep end is a great skill and will improve your water experience immediately. We will provide small groups of 5 adults (£120 for 5 weeks), and each lesson is one hour long. Or you can book a private lesson for this skill based class. There will be demonstrations, and then exercises to improve your breaststoke/ egg beater kick for deep water swimming - this is required to thread water. Also, lots of sculling drills for your hand movements. Send us an email today to secure your place for October. Sunday is the only day we have a deep pool. We are also considering a daytime location around London Bridge. This would be at 2pm, please email to let us know if this suits you. We can teach you how to swim in deep water. Triathlon Swimming Lessons

    About

Our pool to open water swimming lessons focus on the tools required to make your open water swim a more pleasurable experience. These are primarily used by our triathletes who compete in sprint, olympic, half-ironman and ironman distance triathlons. However they are also used by open water swimmers. These lessons will look at many aspects of open water swimming. These include wetsuit guidance around purchasing a suit for those who have not yet made that step. Consequently for those individuals who have already purchased a suit please bring it with you so that technical aspects of the stroke can be addressed in the suit throughout the lesson. Sighting drills will be incorporated, in particular the point at which sighting should be used in order to cause minimal disturbance to the stroke. Underwater video analysis and above the water video analysis will be used in order to provide stroke corrections. The lesson will incorporate both technical and the conditioning aspects of swimming with training programmes offered in order for you to complete your open water swim in the most efficient way. The theory behind swimming teaching and articles for you to read in order to better understand swimming will also be discussed/provided. These lessons are our premium service and are conducted by Steven who has 9 swimming teaching/coaching qualifications, experience of racing both sprint, olympic and half ironman distance triathlons, this year he has raced 8 open water swimming races, 3 of which we over the 10km distance. The fastest of which was 2hr 23min (1:27 per 100m). He is currently training for a channel relay attempt in August 2018 and is very passionate about what he does and what swimming class has to offer. Click here to a make booking.
